Bring your Scout Troop to the Lombard Historical Society! We offer several different badges for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Don’t see a program to fit your need? Contact LHS staff to find a program to fit you!
Programs are $7 per Scout with an 8 Scout minimum. Programs last on average 60-90 minutes. To start the reservation fill out the form at the bottom of the page and LHS Staff will be in contact.
Brownie- Girl Scouts
Bugs:
Visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead and learn all about bugs! Scouts will learn all about pollinators while they observe our native prairie garden and honey bee hive. Learn about how pioneer Harriet Peck used her bee hives in the 1840s. Scouts will complete all requirements for the BUG badge during their visit. A tour of the Peck Homestead is included in the program.
Celebrating Community
Visit the Lombard Historical Society and learn about the Village of Lombard and what makes the Lilac Village special. Scouts will get a tour of the historical society and visit a National Landmark (Lilacia Park) and a Local landmark (Dairy Queen).
My Family Story
Visit the Lombard Historical Society and learn about family research! Scouts will complete the steps for the ‘My Family Story’ badge. Scouts will learn how to make a family tree and learn how museum workers use this knowledge to help researchers. This program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum.
Painting
Visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead and learn about folk art and complete your Painting badge! Scouts will learn about folk art master Sheldon Peck in his home own and create their own art to take home. Programs include a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead
Junior-
Girl Scouts
Gardener
Visit the gardens of the Sheldon Peck Homestead and earn your Gardener badge! Scouts will get to see our veggie garden and native prairie garden. Learn how both gardens were valuable to European settlers. Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
Flowers
Learn about flowers in the Lilac Village! Scouts will complete all the requirements for their flower badge. Learn about flower language and make your own flower pressing popularized in the Victorian era. Included in the program is a tour of the Victorian Cottage or Lilacia Park weather depending.
Scribe
Visit the Lombard Historical Society and complete your Scribe badge! Visit the archive and learn about the writing of the past and try your hand at your own creation! Learn about local authors and writers and create your own tales! The program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the archive.
Simple Meals
Scouts will learn about meals through the ages! Learn what food was popular in the Pioneer and Victorian Eras. Make your own treat and follow a recipe. This program includes a tour of the Victorian Cottage. *Cost is $10 scout to cover food cost
Social Butterfly
Come for Tea at the Victorian Cottage and complete the Social Butterfly badge. Learn about Victorian Etiquette and table manners and how some still apply to today. Scouts will make their own paper fan. This program includes a tour of the Victorian Cottage. *Cost is $10 scout to cover food cost. Can be combined with Flowers badge for an additional fee.

Join the Lombard Historical Society and Complete the ‘My Tiger Jungle’ Tiger Adventure. Scouts will visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead to see the sounds and sights of nature in our own yards! With a native prairie garden and veggie garden, there is plenty to see! Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
Stories in Shapes
Visit the home of American Folk Artist, Sheldon Peck and learn about the art. Discover your favorites and make your own work inspired by him! Scouts will complete all requirements necessary for the Tiger Elective Adventure: Stories in Shapes by the end of the visit. Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead

Council Fire (Duty to Country)
Visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead and complete the Wolf Adventure: Council Fire. Learn about the changes in Lombard over time and complete your flag ceremony in a historic setting! Weather depending scouts can help water the garden to complete a community service project! Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead
Finding Your Way
Visit the Lombard Historical Society and learn about Maps! Visit the archive and compare maps of Lombard today to those of the past. Scouts will complete all requirements for the Wolf Elective Adventure: Finding Your Way. Included in the program is a behind-the-scenes tour of the archive and walk through Lilacia Park (weather permitting)
Paws for Action
Visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead and complete your Paws for Action Adventure! Learn about how the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance have changed over time all in the Oldest Home in Lombard! Learn how museums prepare for emergencies and make a plan of your own! Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
Marble Madness
Games of the past are still popular today, learn about Marble and complete the Marble Madness Bear Adventure. Scouts will learn all about the history of marbles and get to make a marble race track at the Sheldon Peck Homestead. Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
Bear- Cub Scout
Cast Iron Chef
Be a Cast Iron Chef and cook like the pioneers used to. Visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead and cook over an open fire. Scouts will have the opportunity to light the fire themselves. Please note, scouts are required to provide their own menu and food. Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
Art Explosion
Visit the home of American Folk Artist Sheldon Peck and complete the Art Explosion Adventure. Learn about Sheldon’s business as a portrait painter while making your own self-portrait! Included in the program is a tour of the Sheldon Peck Homestead.
